GPRS/3G itu adalah jalan untuk melakukan koneksi internet. General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) merupakan suatu teknologi yang memungkinkan pengiriman dan penerimaan. Sistem GPRS dapat digunakan untuk transfer data (dalam bentuk paket data) yang berkaitan dengan e-mail, data gambar (MMS), dan penelusuran (browsing) internet. Begitupun untuk menikmati layanan mobile book, pengguna perlu memastikan ponselnya sudah GPRS ready. Ada 2 jalan untuk mengaktifkan GPRS/3G pada ponsel Anda, yaitu secara manual dan otomatis.
Berikut panduan setting GPRS/3G secara manual dan otomatis atau Over The Air (OTA) pada handphone pada beberapa operator seluler di Indonesia :

Kirim SMS ke 6616 dengan pesan :
Ketik : GPRS[spasi]angka dibelakang simcard Anda (Nomor ICCID/Integrated Circuit Card Identification). Kemudian tunggu beberapa saat, Anda akan mendapat SMS konfirmasi bahwa aplikasi GPRS sedang diproses. Waktu yang dibutuhkan sekitar 48 jam. Setelah GPRS aktif, Anda akan mendapat notifikasi SMS lagi yang menyatakan GPRS sudah aktif.

Pengguna akan menerima balasan SMS berisi setting parameter. Proses di atas juga akan mengaktifkan GPRS secara otomatis. Jenis ponsel yang mendukung layanan OTA adalah Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola, Samsung dan LG.
